Continuing on in Oslo, for Day Two we decided it was Museum Day! A visit to Oslo is a good opportunity to learn more about the Scandinavian Vikings and their culture. The Fram Museum / The Polar Ship Fram - The Fram Museum is home of the world’s strongest polar vessel. This was our first museum visit of the day!
The Fram plays an important part in the history of Norwegian polar expeditions. The ship was used in three historically important expeditions. The Fram was the strongest wooden ship in the world, built to handle journeys through ice-packed arctic seas.
At the Fram Museum on Bygdøy you can see and board the well-restaured polar vessel. The museum also exhibits a lot of the equipment used by Nansen, Sverdrup and Amundsen in their expeditions.
The Scooner-rigged Norwegian built Polar Vessel reached farther north and farther south than any other vessel. Launched 26, October 1892.

These ships! What a thing to see in person, and the history is just incredible.
Next we were off to the Viking Ships Museum.
The Viking Ship Museum - Museum on the Bygdøy peninsula with the world's best-preserved Viking ships and finds from Viking tombs around the Oslo Fjord.
The Viking Ship Museum shows discoveries from the Gokstad, Oseberg and Tune ships, plus small boats, sledges, a beautiful cart, tools, textiles and household utensils. The Viking Age (800-1050 AD) is one of the richest and most intriguing periods in Scandinavian history.
The Museum serves as the dock for three original Viking ships: The Oseberg ship (from around 820 AD), the Gokstad ship (890 AD) and the Tune ship (900 AD).
The museum features several objects that were found in the 1904 Oseberg excavation. These include sledges, beds, a horse cart, wood carvings and remnants of textiles.
